The Girl and the Magpie is a brand of original jewellery, consisting of unique pieces or very small series. Each jewel is entirely handmade, combining traditional and contemporary jewellery techniques, and marrying natural materials to brass and silver.
The Girl and the Magpie began making jewellery in Burkina Faso (Africa) where she learned with Soum Bounkoungou (click) to master the lost-wax casting technique, an ancestral method for casting bronze. She continued her training in classical and contemporary jewelry at the Technical School for Arts and Crafts in Brussels Belgium (Europe). She is actually living and working in Treasure Beach, Jamaica.
Wherever she is working The Girl and the Magpie incorporates local materials and techniques. Her jewellery is the result of these different cultural influences.
On top of her regular jewellery collections she creates wearable objects, which are presented during exhibitions fashions shows or as part of multidisciplinary performances. (see details below).
